摘要

It's not every day that you hear a leading academic tell an audience that he's "not a lunatic". But this is exactly what Professor James Hitchmough told members of Ireland's Garden & Landscape Designers Association (GLDA) in Dublin last week. Speakingas a guest at GLDA's annual conference, Hitchmough tried to convince members to abandon their block planting schemes and think about seeds for a change. This is a tall order considering that, judging by the looks on their faces, many GLDA members have never designed using seeds before. But now they might just try it.
