In recent years in Institute of Refractory Materials in Gliwice new type of refractory castables self-flowing castables were developed. It is successive step in development of these kind of refractory materials. Application of self-flowing castables considerably facilitates installation process of refractory lining in thermal devices. Additionally, analysis of domestic market proves growing tendency in monolithics application, generally castables, in casting ladles lining. In this article, self-flowing low-cement andalusite castable developed in Institule of Refractory Materials has been described and characterized. Results of industrial tests conducted on this castable in casting ladle for cast steel and cast iron have been presented. Advantages of monolithic lining application in casting ladle were shown.
