FABRICATION OF NOVEL ZINC-BASED COMPOSITE FOAMS

摘要

Metallic foams have been employed in automotive, railway, and aerospace applications to tap their high- impact energy resistance as well as weight reduction properties. Syntactic metallic foams are mostly formed by the incorporation of spherically-shaped (microballoons) hollow solid particles into the metallic matrix of aluminum and magnesium alloys. However, zinc (Zn) alloys have been used as metallic fo,ams to_ harness their good mechanical properties and their cost-effective nature.
