A generic environment of Internet registers administration: CODEV-NIC

摘要

The domain name system or DNS has a hierarchical and decentralized architecture, divided into geographical and generic domains. The geographical domains ccTLD are managed in each country by a structure named NIC (Network Information Center) or register which ensures the recording of the domains in DNS servers and diffuses them throughout the world. But the inexistence of precise rules is responsible for a great disparity of operation from one country to another. The administration of a register depends on the manager's view to freely lay down his policy. This causes serious problems of reference and technical, legal and technological documentation. The environment CODEV-NIC presented in this paper solves the problems encountered by the registers while proposing a generic, skeletal model.
