摘要

Advanced digital microprocessor controlled GMAW technology offers deeper penetration mode to achieve a short arcs with longer short circuiting phases and the resultant constant arc length control demonstrated the ability to fine tune the system to adjust the random variations in CTWD. It was found from the experiments conducted on welding of stubs on the high thickness header for power plant application, that with the waveform controlled technology the fusion characteristics of deep penetration modes are particularly advantageous in root formation especially in tight and narrow joints.
