Although we have grown the true Liliums under glass for some time, it has only been since the early '80's that we have come to fully understand their cultural requirements in the greenhouse environment. Little has been written on the subject, and whathas been is mostly geared towards forcing lilies for the cut flower market. These methods are usually not suitable for the home hobbyist as the commercial forcers pay little attention to the long term needs of the bulb. Once it has produced flowers, the spent bulb is composted and replaced by a fresh one from the fields.
