Many media stories use angles or frames that suit scientists. A newly published finding, the biggest and best, science that matches the hard news or which fits with seasonal events can all work well (see Chem. Aust., November 2009, p. 38), but other frames may not be so friendly and, if the media come looking for a story, it is wise to be on your guard against the following frames.
