At the last Board meeting for 2007 we farewelled two members who were not seeking re-election at the end of their two-year terms of office,and in their places welcomed two new Board members.Steve Bottle will now be able to devote more time to writing textbooks and researching free radicals at QUT,while CSIRO will be glad to get a bigger share of Dave Winkler's time and effort.In a small Board,there is no place to hide,and so it goes without saying that both Steve and Dave (note the great Aussie diminutives) have made important contributions to the governance of the RAO.This is especially true of Dave Winkler,who as Board chair has led us through some difficult matters with skill and tact.
