Herefords dominate Pembrokeshire County Show - 'Hereford Celebration Show'

When George Thome, one of the Council Members for Wales, was elected President of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society he was asked what section of the Show he would put his stamp on and there was only one, "The Hereford Cattle Section" and that ishow the "Hereford Celebration Show" came about. It was decided to sort sponsorship to double the usual prize money and the Championships in order to encourage exhibitors from further afield and what a successful Show it turned out to be. Never before hasthe Show seen so many Herefords present and was by far the Breed with the largest number and a joy to see. On the evening prior to judging day the cattleshed was full of enthusiastic Hereford Breeders from Wales and across the border with Miss Eleanor Hobson of Eldersfield Herefords celebrating her 18th birthday in the cattle lines with everyone joining in the celebration with a glass of champagne. The judge at this special Show was Mr Robin Irvine from Northern Ireland and on a warm sunny summer's morning, which was unusual for 2012, he was kept very busy with excellent numbers and quality in all classes.
