A reverse-annulus single-ended radiant tube (RASERT) technology, patented by Gas Technology Institute (GTI), Des Plaines, Ill., and licensed to the North American Manufacturing (NAM) Co. Cleveland, Ohio, is demonstrating real-world benefits in pre-commercial industrial heat-treating applications. The technology is said to increase combustion efficiency and reduce NOx emissions while decreasing maintenance and downtime in gas-fired heat-treating furnaces. The developers claim the RASERT system has the potential to increase production rates over conventional radiant tube technologies. It is an improvement to current single-ended radiant-tube designs and a cost-effective replacement for other radiant-tube configurations. NAM, a leader in industrial combustion and state-of-the-art equipment and systems will commercialize the technology over the next several months.
