Fourth company convicted of corporate manslaughter

If a company had spent - at most - 5,000 pounds then an employee's death would have been prevented, Laganside Crown Court in Belfast was told. Fining J Murray & Son Ltd 100,000 pounds for corporate manslaughter Mr Justice Weir told the court that Norman Porter's death was "entirely attributable to the negligent behaviour of the company at its highest level of direction". J Murray & Son Ltd is the fourth company to be convicted for corporate manslaughter since the offence was introduced in 2007. The company pleaded guilty to the offence.
