Workplace health initiatives

There is little doubt that health is regarded as the poor sibling in health and safety, given less attention and resource than safety. Yet, while fewer than 200 workers have been killed every year since 2008 through accidents, thousands of people still die each year from work-related illnesses. HSE figures suggest the cost of illness - including those to the individual, the employer and the health service - was ?9.4bn in 2013/14, more than twice the estimated ?4.9bn for injuries.
