Fine for hot works on timber frame site

A housebuilder in south east Wales that allowed workers to smoke and carry out soldering among wooden house frames has been fined 100,000 pounds. Cwmbran Magistrates' Court heard that the firm did not carry out a fire risk assessment for the site, a 6.5m pounds contract for housing association Melin in Blaenavon, Neath. It also failed to consider arrangements that would be needed if there was a fire, such as firefighting equipment, alarms and detection systems.
