THE fire and rescue authorities attended a total of 82,400 fires in England between April and September last year. Though fires can't be predicted the damage they cause can be limited and this makes evacuation planning all the more important. The Equality Act 2010 reiterates key elements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and states that those who have control of, or safety obligations for, non-domestic premises, have a legal duty for ensuring arrangements for the evacuation of the premises.
