160k pounds penalty for severed thumb and fingers

AN ACCIDENT where a worker severed four fingers and a thumb as he changed the bag on a dust filtration unit has cost a manufacturing firm 160,000 pounds. Agency worker Thomas Robinson was cutting carbon off-cuts down to size and putting them on a conveyer to the filtration system at Mersen Scotland Holytown's North Lanarkshire plant when the incident happened in August 2008.
