Nephrotic syndrome and acute renal failure during pegylated liposomal doxorubicin treatment

Chemotherapy regimens that contain anthracyclines are the most active therapeutic agents for breast cancer. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD), a novel formulation of doxorubicin in a liposome matrix encased in polyethylene glycol, is designed to concentrate preferentially in tumor tissue in order to circumvent toxicity associated with the conventional anthracyclines, in particular cardiac toxicity1 We report a case of reversible severe nephrotic syndrome during PLD's course.
