Safe Loading of Vans and Light Goods Vehicles

IT SEEMS like the "white-van man" is everywhere these days, which is not surprising when you hear some of the statistics in this brief DVD produced by the Freight Transport Association (FTA). According to the FTA, there are over 3.5 million vans on Britain's roads today. In other words, about one in seven of all vehicles is a light goods vehicle. Each one is designed to carry loads safely and this DVD is aimed at the drivers. If vehicles become overloaded, or have insecure loads, then the vehicle handling, steering and braking can all be affected. This DVD reminds drivers of the terrifying results which can occur when vehicles are not safely loaded. Drivers are responsible for their own vehicles and loads and can be held liable for any accidents involving them on the roads. As sanctions against drivers include not just fines but licence removal and imprisonment, the penalties are not to be dismissed lightly.
