Lead exposure weighs on BAM Nuttall

Construction giant BAM Nuttall and the fabrication company it subcontracted to remove steelwork from a historic military installation have been fined after workers were exposed to dangerous lead levels. On 12 December, Portsmouth Crown Court heard how BAM had subcontracted Four Tees Engineering in July 2013 to help remove weathered steel from the NAB Tower in the Solent, near the Isle of Wight. The tower was built to detect U boats in World War I and is now a navigation beacon.
