摘要

The RAS Institute of Comprehensive Exploitation of Mineral Resources has studied the possible use of different impacts on rock for its destruction. The potentialities of lasers, plasma cutters, infrared sources, various kinds of jets, active chemicals, and mechanical devices were analyzed. However, the eco nomic feasibility of such impacts in the mining indus try, especially for destroying strong rocks, has shown that the explosion method is next to none at present and will remain such in the near future. This is because this method implies that the explosive charges are located inside the medium under destruction (in holes or wells bored in the rock mass), while in the above methods the destruction energy is applied from the surface, which is less effective.
