PAS 911: 2007 Fire Strategies: Guidance and Framework for their Formulation

THIS UPDATED PAS (Publicly Available Specification), produced by the British Standards Institution, is intended to create more uniformity in fire strategies. It seeks to provide "the user with one methodology to take the national guidance and utilise it within a framework; the purpose being to ensure that the final strategy follows a consistent style and covers the main issues." The need for consistency arises because, historically, UK fire safety legislation has been brought into being in a piecemeal manner, often following actual incidents. The need to take into account European and International Standards complicates this already haphazard methodology, as does the need to take into account the requirements of interested parties such as insurers.
