35000 pounds fine after company fails to control public safety risks

Walter Lawrence, an engineering company, has been fined 10000 pounds and ordered to pay 25000 pounds costs after a water bowser crushed a 12 year-old boy. The bowser had been tampered with after the company left it in the street in October 2001. It rolled down a slope crushing the boy against a car. He was airlifted to hospital with a fractured pelvis.
