'Feeble excuses' help director to 90000 pounds fine

A DIRECTOR described by a judge as "incompetent, ignorant and uncomprehending" has been fined a total of 180 000 pounds following the collapse of a building. The incident happened at a site near London's Tower Bridge in December 2004. Rosekey, trading as Atwal Builders, had been contracted to build a new shop and flats next door to a bookshop with two flats above it. Over a period of a few days, Rosekey carried out excavations on the site to form the foundations for the new building.
