Hydrotreated naphthenic lube base oil has one serious shortcoming in that it discolors intensely when exposed to high temperature or sunlight [1-6].Compared with light stability, its thermal stability is not especially serious, so few people care about this issue [7]. However, some engineers found that it is still a very troublesome problem in actual application. This limitation renders it incapable of meeting the stringent performance requirements of an advanced white industrial product, thereby lessening its commercial value. In this regard, this paper sought to find effective means to overcome such disadvantage. Two process routes were employed: one is the adjustment of technical schemes and parameters, and the other is the addition of some antioxidant.
