Petro-Canada is planning upgrades to allow its Edmonton refinery in Alberta, Canada, to process 100% oil-sands feedstock."We are positioning our downstream business to take advantage of long-term strengthening of light/heavy crude differentials. We are converting the Edmonton refinery to process oil sands-based feedstock and evaluating the addition of a coker in Montreal," Ron Brenne-man, Petro-Canada's president and chief executive officer, revealed in the company's third quarter earnings announcement yesterday (see related story, page 1).
