Spot Alkylate Prices Continue to Drop in Midst of Ongoing Economic Uncertainties

U.S. Gulf Coast spot alkylate prices continued to drop last week, as global economic concerns led to a myriad of other worries, from poor sales figures of two U.S. automakers to refiners saying they would consider cutting runs to prevent losing money from producing gasoline.Spot benzene prices were down around 14%, while spot toluene prices were down by around 26% and spot xylene prices were down by around 15%. Spot prices for other products also fell: the spot methanol price during the week fell 31%, to around 80￠/gal, while the spot ethanol price fell 4%, to about $1.66/gal.
