摘要

The San Joaquin Valley running from San Francisco to Los Angeles is classified as a serious non-attainment area under federal ozone standards and a new report says dairies, not cars, are the valley's largest source of ozone-forming volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District says each head of dairy cattle produces 19.3 pounds of VOCs each year, up 6.5 pounds/yr from the valley's previous estimate from 1939 of 12.8 pounds.
