EU textile and clothing exports to countries outside the EU increased in value by 3.5% to Euro43.03 bn (US$57.09 bn) and in volume by 1.9% to 4.86 mn tons in 2014. Within these totals, exports of textiles rose by 2.2% in value and by 1.5% in volume while exports of clothing rose by 4.7% in value and by 6.9% in volume. Textile production also rose during the year, having edged up a year earlier. Clothing production, however, continued to decline and reached its lowest level in several years.
