Ploughboy Organics has developed a new technology called Ploughboy which can be used to convert tobacco plants into dyes and fibres for textiles, including home textiles. Mermet has developed a treatment called Koolblack Technology which can be applied to roller shade fabrics to provide them with heat reflection properties. Refinity has developed a removable ink for fabrics, allowing them to be reprinted with new designs. Mitsa has developed a new laminated fabric for mattress protectors called Dermofresh FR which is made using Lenzing FR and Tencel fibres. Brentano has developed a new fabric for "sophisticated" outdoor upholstery called Zinnia. Invista has expanded the colour palette for its Antron Lumena 6.6 nylon carpet fibres. FR Safety Yarns has expanded its range of Diolen Safe durable flame retardant (FR) polyester yarns to include taslan yarns for use in furnishing fabrics. Researchers at Texas A&M University have developed two new flame resistant (FR) polymer coatings for cotton fabric and polyurethane foam. Sanitized is releasing an adapted version of its antimicrobial treatment Sanitized TH 22-27 which can be used for home textiles. Elsewhere, researchers at the Hohenstein Institute have developed a new method of testing acoustic and aero-acoustic properties in textile materials used in interior design and the automotive industry.
