Olav Fjell has had to climb a steep learning curve in his position as Statoil's newly appointed chief executive. He is in the midst of a major reorganization of the group that involves taking over the State's Direct Financial Interests (SDFI) on the Norwegian Shelf, already managed by Statoil, before being privatized.
