In the 1960s,the waxes used for different purposes in the food industry and medicine contained a large amount of a carcinogenic hydrocarbon - benzo-alpha-pyrene (BP).Its content in such waxes was simply determined.The wax investigated was briefly drenched with n-octane,which extracted the BP.The amount of BP was determined with the quasilinear luminescence spectra on a DFS-12 spectrometer.
