Congested Transmission Network Management Algorithm for Wholesale Spot Market

摘要

The congestion of the transmission network influences the price and the quantity that is traded in the wholesale spot market. This paper introduces an algorithm to find the optimal market solution that relieves all the congestions and, at the same time, maximize the benefit of the market players. The algorithm is based on the market split method. The authors developed a new approach to individuate the congested areas and to define the submarket in which the market has to be split in order to relief the congestion. The method has the advantages to be easy to implement and to produce the optimal market solution in a very short CPU time.
