Genome-wide selection in poultry.

摘要

This article reviews the current status and perspectives of genomic selection in layer breeding. The major advantages of using genomic selection to improve the effectiveness of breeding, potential applications and definition of breeding goals are discussed. Focus is given on shortening the generation interval and selecting for specific traits. Moreover, the use of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-Chip to reduce the cost of routine genotyping is presented.
