Innovative vaccines reviewed at AVMA congress

Basic studies on molecular biology are now being translated into potential vaccines for breeders, table egg producers and broiler and turkey integrators. A report on recent findings.Reports on innovative poultry vaccines were presented at the 2004 Congress of the American Veterinary Medical Association held in Philadelphia in July. Dr Eid Haddad of Embrex, Inc., reported on the protection against New Castle Disease provided by Newplex~R VNF vaccine following in-ovo administration to broiler embryos derived from flocks with maternal antibody. Adequate protection was demonstrated at 7 days after hatch and immunity persisted through 84 days as denoted by challenge with the highly virulent Texas GB strain.c
