A high proportion of the worlds remaining hydrocarbon reserves are deposited within complex structures, often at great depths and under deep water. Many of these reserves are hidden from view beneath dense overburdens, and others are associated with known reservoirs, but have not yet been recoverable, due to geological uncertainty.
