Research into biodegradable and biocompatible polymers have received considerable attention over the past decade due to the decline of available fossil resources and the increasing preference for environmentally friendly products. The current generation of bio-based polymers is produced primarily from renewable resources, such as sugar canes, starches, and proteins.
