摘要

One of the most significant foundations for the technological and social development of industrial nations is a constant and secure supply of energy. Today, a large proportion of this energy is generated from fossil energy carriers in Germany and virtually all other industrial nations. When producing electricity with these energy carriers, for example, the greenhouse gas CO_2 is released as a result of chemical reactions. Currently, large quantities of this gas enter the earth's atmosphere. The proportion of CO_2 emissions from coalfired power plants in the world's total CO_2 volume currently amounts to approximately 40 %, with an upward trend [4]. It is apparent that a correlation exists between the increased release of greenhouse gases from the time industrialization began and the emerging climate change [1].
