The appearance of the grain of the wood is an important point of interest in clear wood varnishes. A high contrast within the wood is desirable for wood surfaces such as parquet flooring and furniture. The present invention has the object of providing a coating system and a method for enhancing the grain appearance of wood in a simple manner without compromising other positive features of the coating.
