In the automotive industry there is a desire to improve the chip resistance of automotive coatings.Such chip resistant coatings may be placed direcdy onto the metal body or between an electrodeposited primer layer and the pigmented basecoat.Repairs of chipping damage may require the exposure of the bare metal substrate,before application of a corrosion inhibitive primer,primer-surfacer and subsequent base-and topcoats.This process is time-consuming and labour-intensive (and therefore expensive).
