Wisconsin resident Pat Wilborn is a big believer in aquaponics for generating jobs, fish and food, but he's just a little frustrated these days. For no good reason that he can see, the planning commission in the town of Port Washington, where he liveson the western edge of Lake Michigan, recently turned down his idea of putting up a small (20' x 30') temporary greenhouse building to install a demonstration aquaponics farm. Wilborn explained a few weeks ago that he came up with the idea of the temporary facility in his backyard as a means of demonstrating just how environmentally "green" and neighbourhood-friendly aquaponics systems really are.
