Snobs Creek was originally built as a trout hatchery, but since 1985 has also bred native Australian species. The breeding program has three operational goals:· Grow introduced salmonid species for stocking to improve recreational fishing.· Grow endangered natives species for stocking to help populations recover.· Grow native species for stocking into lakes and rivers and improve recreational fishing opportunities. The first two objectives have been described in earlier issues of Hatchery International. This article deals with native species raised for recreational angling.
