The nature of the aquaculture sector involves a world filled with hazards and potential injuries. Tanks, heavy loads, a plethora of equipment, repetitive movements, compressed gases and confined spaces highlight just a few of the hazards frequently encountered in the course of a day at the hatchery or farm site.Throw in the added uncertainty of water everywhere and the trials of weather and the dangers are heightened. Mitigation of hazards, protection of employees, and the forwarding of a health and safety agenda is a priority at any site or company. However, the challenge of creating and implementing an effective health and safety program in an aquaculture setting often proves difficult.
