New facility, bigger smolts for Marine Harvest in Canada

The first year-class of a new group of Atlantic salmon smolts recently left Marine Harvest Canada's new water-recirculating hatchery near Sayward BC. The new facility, which features state-of-the-art technology and water-treatment systems, is being built in two phases and phase one was completed last year on the site of a pre-existing company hatchery. The smolts are the lead group in a new approach MHC is taking when growing the juveniles to the point that they go out to company growout operations in the general area.
