Evaluation of gerbera genotypes against Alternaria leaf spot under protected structure

The cultivar Mammoth was found resistant to Alternaria leaf spot, whereas cultivars Shirley, Sangria and Fireball were moderately resistant to leaf spot. The remaining cultivars showed moderately susceptible to susceptible reaction. Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Hook) is an important commercial flower crop grown throughout the world in a wide range of climatic conditions. Various diseases caused by fungi and bacteria affect the crop. Leaf spot caused by Alternaria sp. is a common disease in greenhouse and field condition.
