Since the start of the 21st century, Chinese MDF production capacity has been increasing rapidly, with the annual average for newly-built lines standing at 60, with an annual capacity increase of 3.12 million m~3/year. By the end of 2005, there will be 520 production lines with a capacity of 22 million m~3/year (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). There are about 400 enterprises, with most of them being located in the east and south part of China, with the top 10 MDF production provinces accounting for 77% of total capacity.
