Spot product prices were mixed in the week to Feb. 3, with light and middle distillates inching up and fuel oil weakening. Gasoil sentiment ebbed and flowed during the period as several bull and bear factors counteracted each other. Cracks hovered at around a two-week high during the first half of the week, before dropping to a three-session low on Thursday. A lack of demand from Europe was offset by firm consumption in India, Malaysia, and the Pacific. Also, later in the week, high prices for Dubai crude and loftier product stocks in Singapore weighed on market sentiment. The volatility seen during the week could be commonplace for much of the year, a trader suggested.
