IEA calls on OPEC to increase crude exports.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), OPEC producers will need to increase production in 3Q by 900K b/d from April levels in order to meet rising demand for crude around the world. In its most recent monthly Oil Market Report the IEA raised its 2014 crude demand forecast by 65K b/d to 92.8MM b/d, but at the same time it cut its projection for non-OPEC supply growth in 2014 by 100K b/d to 1.5MM b/d though overall crude production in April was up by 700K b/d to 92.1MM b/d with OPEC accounting for 405K b/d of this growth as total cartel output averaged 29.9MM b/d on the month. For H2 2014 the IEA is calling on OPEC to increase production to 30.7MM b/d, 120K b/d than a previous estimate, with the IEA calling on the group to boost total 2014 output by 200K b/d to average 30MM b/d for the year. The IEA concluded, "Forecast balances call for a significant rise in OPEC production from current levels for the second half of the year. While OPEC has more than enough capacity to deliver, it remains to be seen whether it will manage to overcome the above-ground hurdles that have plagued some of its member countries lately."
