摘要

One of Europe's biggest electricity generators, Germany's RWE, may give up on building conventional coal-fired power stations in Western Europe if full auctioning of carbon emission permits beyond 2013 becomes a reality. The company already has 5.4 gigawatts of coal-fired capacity under or near construction in Germany and the Netherlands. But beyond that, RWE Power Chief Executive Johannes Lambertz tells WGI, the company is realigning its sights to concentrate its EUR20 billion (26 billion) capital spending in 2008-12 on Central and Eastern Europe, assigning EUR10 billion to RWE Power, EUR5 billion to UK arm RWE npower, and EUR5 billion to renewables business RWE Innogy.
