The cheap gas that Gazprom decided earlier this decade to buy from Central Asia in order to avoid expensive moves to counter stagnation in domestic Russian output may not be that cheap after all.Gazprom is being pressed by Central Asian exporters to accept higher gas prices,sometimes with the lure of upstream holdings and sometimes with the threat of a turn to China or other Asian markets.
