US Hess is planning an LNG import terminal in western Ireland.Chief Executive John Hess said July 26 that the project,by Hess LNG,is still at an early stage but that a site has already been obtained:"It would be premature to put dates out there, but it's obviously an opportunity that we are enthusiastic about."Hess is looking at a terminal with a capacity of 3 million metric tons - equivalent to 400 million cubic feet per day,or 4.1 billion cubic meters per year - at a cost of 500 million. The terminal, operational by 2011 at the earliest, would be capable of meeting 40% of all Irish gas demand by then,it said.
