Eager to have the US-backed Free Trade Agreement of the Americas(FTAA)passed,Mexican President Vicente Fox,one of the few backers of the controversial agreement within the region,has resuscitated his own regional free trade package,the Plan Puebla-Panama(PPP).Fox pitched this energy-focused development scheme for impoverished southern Mexico and Central America on the sidelines of the Summit of the Americas,held earlier this month at the Argentina resort town of Mar del Plata,after participating countries failed to agree on the controversial free trade package.
